Scammers target NPPD customers

COLUMBUS, Neb. - Scammers are going after Nebraska utility customers. Nebraska Public Power District said they got reports this week about scammers posing as NPPD representatives. The scammers are calling customers and threatening to shut off their power if they don't pay for a new meter. Supervisor of Media Services for NPPD Mark Becker told KXCV/KRNW they're currently in the process of installing digital meters in several communities.

He said anyone who believes they've gotten a call from a scammer, should call police and NPPD.
